Clothespin Dolls
Well, here I go making more clothespin
dolls. I have made them in the past but just painted to head part of the
clothespin. But this time I found big wooden beads with the perfect
opening to slip the head of the clothespin in so the head could be
bigger!
I have a hard time just making one clothespin doll - I kinda go overboard. I've told you that before.
These little dolls are so fun to make:
I
hot glued the large wooden bead onto the clothespin head and then
painted the entire body and head a
flesh color.
I painted the shoes (stand) and then glued the little clothespin feet into it so the doll can stand up.
Now
the fun part starts - I painted little bloomers onto the body and gave
it some pink, of course, trim. I could have painted a bodice or a little
bra but since these are just young little girls, we just painted
bloomers.
Next I moved on to the head.
I experienced with some puff paint for try to make the bottom of her
hair look a little like a Hitty dolly, but as you can see, it didn't
work very welI. It only punched out a little bit. After that dried I
drew in pencil how I wanted her hair to look and then painted it.
The
eyes are painted on using the bottom of a small wooden dowel placed
into paint and then I added some eye shine. Her little mouth is just two
strokes of paint to resemble a heart. Her little check colors was added
with a pink colored pencil. You can place the eyes closer together but I
like them pretty far apart - love how this makes her look very
childlike.
The final touch is to add
her little arms. I just cut a pipe cleaner, or to be proper - a chenille
stem, to the length I want. I hot glued the center of the pipe cleaner
to the center back of the doll and let that dry. Then I take a little
pointy nose plyer and curl the tip back where the hand would be. That
way there is a little definition of a hand and plus you won't poke
yourself with the sharp end of the wire.
Now you have a little clothespin doll!
But she's almost naked. Time for clothes!
Pull out the crochet hook and threads and go to town making dresses for my little girls!!
This little girl is my favorite, I think! I do love them all.
Here is another little girl in her crocheted dress and she how on red Mary Janes!
