Tiny Betsys

Tiny Betsys

I love dolls! Have I told you that? When I was a little girl, I had a tiny Betsy McCall and loved her. But through all of the years of growing up ~ I don't have a clue to what happened to her.

Well, I found two Betsys! I was so excited. The one on the right is just like the one I had as a little girl. I think she came out in 1958, yeah, I'm old. The one in red is much newer. But two are always better than one. Don't you think?
By the time my Betsys arrived at my house, they had been on a long journey and were so tired so I made them night clothes so they could rest. This little one is like mine from the time I was a little girl. She is in perfect condition and I was lucky to find her in such good shape. Her hair needs a little styling though! She got a pair of PJs and loved how comfy they were on her.
My newer model Betsy pulled her hair back and I made her a new gown. She loved it as she said she wiggles a lot at night in bed and needed room to move her little legs. Both of the nightclothes are made of a soft flannel. We are going to have some fun!

Be True To Your School

The Hittys went to register for school on Friday! They were so excited as this is their first time to attend school and were acting up pretty much.

Their school is called the Hittyville School and even has a Hitty bench as you can see where the twins, Hitty Addie and Maddie, have found, they are just inseparable! I do think their teacher will have her hands full. We'll follow along with their school days. Let the learning begin!

Tea For Two and Two For Tea

It's tea time but you know you have to have a new dress if you're going out for tea!

Hittys Caroline and Everly got new crocheted dresses and hats. They felt so good about themselves and walked all the way to go to town and have tea! They found the perfect little place and sat outside daintily drinking their Earl Gray tea with cream. Oh, the finer things in life.

Happy 4th of July!

The Hittys all wanted to wish you a very Happy Fourth of July! They got to march in the town parade and were so thrilled as they celebrated their first Fourth of July!

So many things are planned - we knew the parade was coming up so the girls all wanted patriotic dresses to wear in the parade, so what did I do - make dresses!

Here are Hitty Addie and Hitty Maddie. They are certainly twins - they are just never apart and love each other dearly. They look so cute in their new dresses!

Now we have Hitty Everly and Hitty Caroline and they insisted on crocheted patriotic dresses. I told them it would take me a lot longer - they didn't care! So, since I love them so I went ahead and got out my thread and hooks!
Last but not least we have the three Muskateers - Hitty's Evie, Annabelle and Delilah! Again looking as lovely as a new day and carrying their tiny little flags!

God bless America!

American Woman (um...American Girl Doll)

Have you ever noticed so many of my blog titles are songs? I just think that way!

Any way, I'm a bit of a sucker for my little Hitty Dolls but also a sucker for my little granddaughter.

She went through a time of loving her American Girl doll and as her grandmother ~ I had to please her and make clothes. The only thing is ~ I don't know when to stop. Just enjoy the clothing.

Okay, I know I don't know when to stop as I have many more outfits I made for her doll. These clothes were to be a surprise so I needed a model. I went to Walmart and bought their cheaper version of the American Girl doll, Can't say I'm not a doting grandma!
