Meet Betsy!
I thought I would take a little break from playing with Hittys today and introduce you to another rag doll I've made.
I used this pattern to make her and she was quite simple but she's pretty large. I like the way she turned out.
Here you can see Betsy's sweet little embroidered face and her hair. Now the pom pom pigtails was a great idea but I had never used felt before as the base of a doll's hair. There's always a first time for learning something new. This made the hair on her head very neat. I just glued down the pigtails and put little bangs under felt before I hand sewed it down.
I was in Walmart and am always peeping in at the fabrics and found out The Pioneer Women now has fabric you can buy already bundled up in small amounts of yardage. I fell in love with this pretty red flowered print. I used a baby blue for her bodice that pulls in the tiny blue flowers in the print. I finished off her outfit with lace at the sleeves and collar and used a red ribbon and bow and added a little flower for some prettiness.
You can see she has on baby blue pantaloons trimmed in lace. But alas - no shoes. Betsy said she didn't want any shoes because she wasn't going outside!
She
may not have any shoes but she wanted to show you she can stand up.
Well, she has a little help from leaning up against the sofa back! Rag
Dolls! What are we to do with them.
